Description: 1882 Sep 2, envelope from Tientsin to Peking, franked with 1882 1ca green and 5ca orange-yellow, tied by black oval TIENTSIN type II seal cancellation, Customs Tientsin c.d.s. on the reverse of Sep 2 and a small rectangular framed Tientsin Chinese shop, slight creases affecting the adhesives /

Description: 1882 Oct 17, printed 'United States Consulate, Ningpo' envelope from Tientsin to Shanghai, readdressed to Peking, franked with 3ca, tied by oval TIENTSIN seal cancellation, on the reverse Customs Tientsin c.d.s. of Oct 25, the first two in blue, Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. and 'U.S. Consulate General Shanghai' of Oct 17 /
Note: Single domestic letter rate of 3 candarins. A unique usage from Ningpo, the cover presumably carried privately through U.S. diplomatic channels and then put into the Local Post and Customs system in Shanghai.
