Description: 1842 June 24, folded entire from Thomas Erskine (naval officer) at Mouth of the Yang Tyse Keang River" to his father at the Beighton vicarage, England (1843 Apr 4), rated "8"d ship letter fee, showing "Calcutta Shipletter" (Nov 14) and Calcutta G.P.O. Ship Letter", letter describes the defending of Shanghae and laying siege to Nanking which led to the signing of the Treaty of Nanking Aug 11th 1842 /
